DE GEORGE ACADEMY
FOR PERFORMING ARTS
Since 2012, the De George Academy for Performing Arts has served as a pathway for underserved students in
Palm Beach County pursuing an education in the performing arts.
The Academy’s mission to offer high-quality arts training and enrichment is generously funded by the
Lawrence J. and Florence A. De George Charitable Trust. Students are identified each spring by arts specialists
at Title I elementary schools and participate in a week-long summer audition and evaluation process for fall
admission. Many students return year after year and go on to earn placement in local arts magnet schools.

The Academy offers year-round professional
instruction in performance and visual arts, along
with private coaching and access to special
workshops and performances. The program is
open to students in grades 3–8 attending Palm
Beach County Title I elementary and middle
schools.
The De George Academy for Performing Arts
helps level the playing field for students with
limited access to quality arts education, providing
opportunities often unavailable to their peers.
Through high-quality instruction, students develop
discipline, critical thinking and creative confidence
in a supportive, professional environment. The
program also tracks each student’s progress
over time to support their growth and success in
achieving their goals.
SUMMER LAUNCH
The Summer Launch program gives incoming
students the opportunity to participate in a week
of intensive arts workshops in art, dance, theater
and vocal performance. This experience helps
introduce students to the program while preparing
them for auditions and full-year participation.
Returning Level 1 students are also invited to take
part.
FALL AND SPRING WORKSHOPS
These weekly, discipline-based workshops focus
on five key areas: dance, theater, vocal music,
musical theater and visual art, with an emphasis
on skill development. Students also have access
to private audition and interview coaching to
support preparation for performing arts magnet
school auditions.
SPRING RESIDENCY
This one-week intensive program for students
in grades 5–8, led by national and local teaching
artists, explores the arts as a form of creative
expression. The experience culminates in a fully
staged production for parents, family and friends.
MASTER CLASSES
Master classes featuring professional artists
performing on the Kravis Center’s mainstage are
offered throughout the year.
THEATER ACCESS FOR FAMILIES
Provides tickets to Academy students and their
families for Kravis Center performances.
